My Story
Many people in my profession have their "Healer Origin Story" - the singular moment or event that got them interested in the world of acupuncture. Often there is a traumatic event or serious illness they were able to move past with the help of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its many modalities. For me, it was less about one pivotal moment and more about a lifetime of confusing and frustrating healthcare experiences.

It was the semi-annual prescription of antibiotics to tame my never-ending ear infections as a child.
It was working as a pharmacy technician out of high school, watching patients be added one more prescription to their daily pill pile, with no expectation of ever coming off of them.

It was my time in health insurance and provider relations, witnessing how coverage decisions were frequently shaped by financial priorities first, and patient wellbeing second.
It was living through a pandemic, watching the state health department rope off my child’s park with caution tape while deeming the liquor store down the street 'essential', allowing it to stay open.
It was going through two pregnancies in near constant low back and ligament pain, being offered a hopeless "welcome to pregnancy" after asking my providers what could be done about it.

It was watching my oldest daughter go through her own carousel ride of antibiotics, and the side effects that ensued, to compel me to look for more ways to take care of myself and my family.

From all of these experiences, I learned that no one will ever be more invested in my health than myself - that I am, for all intents and purposes, my own primary care provider. The daily decisions I make for myself and my children are what keep us healthy and less reliant upon a confusing, conflicting system. I found in my search for a different answer that Traditional Chinese Medicine aligned with my goals of supporting my health, not just waiting to ameliorate illness.

I deeply respect and utilize Western medicine whenever necessary - I've personally been saved by it. I also believe Eastern medicine plays an essential role in supporting the body where conventional care may not provide full relief. I'm grateful for the unique opportunity to practice with this balanced perspective, and to serve my community through evidence-informed acupuncture.

Whenever I'm not working my dream job of being an acupuncturist, I'm enjoying my dream town of Castle Rock with my husband and two young daughters. I love to cook, lift weights, craft with my girls, crush to-do lists, enjoy music of all types, and talk ad nauseam with my husband about the current state of NFL football (Go Broncos). I strive to add "hiking, camping, and enjoying all that colorful Colorado has to offer" to my bio one of these days as well.
