Services

During your initial intake I will ask a series of questions and perform diagnostic activities to determine a plan of treatment. Depending on your diagnosis, personal preference and comfort level, one or more of the following treatments may be given. All treatments are discussed prior to my performing them, and no one treatment is mandatory; many different treatments can yield the same positive results. Your comfort on the treatment table is crucial.

Acupuncture

Hair-fine filiform needles are inserted into areas of the body to affect desired change, based on Chinese Medicine Meridian theory.

Moxibustion (Moxa)

Dried mugwort (an herb) is burned near the skin in various locations in order to provide warmth, energy, and vitality to the body. Good for chronic low energy, feelings of cold, painful periods, etc.

Electro-stimulation (E-stim)

Small clamps are placed on two or more acupuncture needles to emit low-frequency electrical stimulation; this increases the  therapeutic effects of acupuncture.

Cupping

Glass cups are warmed with fire and are placed along the back or other areas of muscle tightness. They may stay in place or may be slid back and forth. Cupping helps move areas of stagnation which result in muscle knots and soreness. Also used to treat certain skin conditions and the beginning stages of certain illness.

Gua Sha

A smooth, flat tool is used to glide along the skin in gentle, repeated strokes. This helps release muscle tension, is used to fight off the beginnings of illnesses, and can treat many skin conditions.

Trigger Point Release Acupuncture ("Dry Needling")

This is simply acupuncture, coupled with a thrusting technique in order to release trigger points in muscles, easing muscle tension.
